Weekly Ad Redesign

Original Design

With the exciting decision to expand the grocery store’s weekly specials after the relaxation of the 2020 restrictions, the weekly ad format needed a refresh! The existing layout could not handle to effectively showcase the increased number of products. A redesigned ad would allow us to present this information clearly, ensuring customers can easily discover all the reasons to shop with us and any upcoming events. A visually appealing and well-organized ad needed to maximize the impact of our weekly features, driving customer engagement and sales.

The problem: The design was becoming drab and was due for a refresh to be up to date with current design trends.

The goal: To create a design that more eye-catching and vibrant and could easily be sectioned off and rearranged for the various print sizes.

Redesign

The new ad redesign features a vibrant and eye-catching layout. Bold visuals showcase our most attractive features, from fresh produce to from scratch baked goods. The various departments stand out with strong headings and clearly-listed features. The weekly ad had to be easy to break apart into sections and reposition for various layouts – double-page spread with margin, one-page spread, and an in-store 11×17 printed ad. This redesign has been in use for more than 2 years and has resulted in easier readability for our Farm Market visitors.

Farm Market Brochure Redesign

Original Design

Because of the pandemic, the Farm Market hours were changed several times. This resulted in the disposal of the old brochures which provided the perfect opportunity to update the design as well as the information on the Farm Market brochures. The information had to be concise, the design had to be attractive, and the information had to be relevant even with any possible changes to the operations.

The problem: The information presented on the Farm Market brochure was very vague and didn’t highlight the breadth of the store.

The goal: To update the design and to highlight some of the top departments in the store.

Redesign

From a tri-fold to a rack card, this new layout was much simpler for a reader to navigate and provided all the necessary information as quickly as possible.

Reusable Grocery Bags

The leadership team wanted 4 designs for reusable bags that would represent Shady Maple, but would especially highlight the Farm Market. There had been a previous reusable bag design, but it had been out of stock a little before Covid. I created 4 designs for three different end products. All of these bags have been produced and are currently widely circulated.

The goal: To create branded reusable bags that could be sold at all Shady Maple businesses.

Collapsible Box Tote

Our team selected the color of the inside material and the base material. The printer gave us a limit of three colors of ink, hence the direction toward an illustration. The design is seamless and wraps around perfectly on all four sides.

Insulated Bag

The design for the insulated bag showcases the variety that is usually available at the Farm Market. Visitors from far and wide often purchase our meats, baked goods, and produce and need to transport them several hours back home. This was a perfect way to provide a solution for their needs and to keep Shady Maple on their mind when they reuse this bag.

Basic Reusable Bag, 2 Sizes

The design for the large reusable grocery bag featured some meats on the front and back of the bag. The medium bag displayed produce. Both bags had plates of food from the Smorgasbord on the sides.
